About the Role
We are currently looking for part-time Support Workers to join our Whanau Support Services in Loburn, Woodend, and Rangiora. Our ideal candidates are energetic and motivated individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. The role requires availability on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, with work hours typically ranging between 9 AM and 5 PM, amounting to approximately 13 hours per week.
As a Support Worker, your primary responsibility will be to assist individuals in their homes and communities, helping them lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. You will support them in achieving their personal dreams and goals by engaging in activities they enjoy, such as swimming, attending sporting events, participating in arts and crafts, watching movies, or going shopping. The scope of activities is extensive and varied.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about helping others and possess the following qualities:
- Kindness and understanding towards those we support
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, especially working with youth
- A full driver's license and access to your own vehicle are essential
- A strong desire to assist individuals in learning new skills and reaching their goals
- Initiative, energy, and an ability to think creatively to encourage others
- Respect for diverse perspectives and lifestyles, recognizing that those we support come from various backgrounds with differing needs and interests
- Empathy, respect, and cultural awareness are vital in this role
