About the Role
The Department of Paediatrics at Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral is inviting applications for a Paediatric Fellow position. This role is a 12-month fixed-term post with a negotiable start date. We welcome applications from both local and overseas trained doctors with equivalent qualifications.
This position is ideal for final-year advanced trainees in General Paediatrics (RACP) or those who have recently completed their advanced training. We offer 12 months of core training, which includes six months in general paediatrics, six months in rural settings, and six months in community/developmental paediatrics. The role involves managing an outpatient clinic load and participating in the SMO on-call roster.
You will join a 1:9 acute roster, providing care across a wide range of acute paediatric cases, including a 14-bed level 2A neonatal unit that admits babies from 28 weeks gestation (1000g) and above. Our service is supported by dedicated Paediatric RMOs who are on-site at all times. You will have the opportunity to work in various outpatient clinics both in the hospital and within the community.
We maintain excellent collaboration with our tertiary colleagues from Starship and Wellington, who visit regularly. We take pride in our reputation as a leading training center for Paediatrics, General Practice, and Emergency Medicine.
Requirements
- Medical degree and registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Advanced training in General Paediatrics or equivalent qualifications.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development.
