Machine Operator

About the Role We are currently seeking two Machine Operators who are also willing to engage in a variety of physically demanding labor duties as part of our farm team. The successful candidates will operate various types of machinery and contribute to the smooth operation of our farming activities. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $26 to $28, depending on experience. We guarantee a minimum of 30 hours per week, with the possibility of working up to 70 hours during peak seasons. Location for this role is in Auckland. Responsibilities In this role, you will: - Operate tractors, sprayers, slashers, mulchers, forklifts, and harvesters across the farm. - Attach and calibrate implements such as seeders, bed formers, and fertilizer spreaders. - Apply chemical sprays and fertilizers using boom sprayers or other equipment. - Utilize GPS-guided and precision farming technology where applicable. - Operate irrigation and pumping systems effectively. - Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on all farm machinery. - Carry heavy loads, including crates, irrigation pipes, and farm equipment. - Conduct farm maintenance tasks such as fencing, clearing, drainage, and cleaning machinery. - Be prepared for early morning starts, sometimes as early as 4:00 AM, and long shifts during peak periods. - Work in various weather conditions, including rain, heat, and wind. - Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and chemical handling. - Work both independently and collaboratively within a team, following supervisor instructions. Requirements To be successful in this role, you should have: - A valid New Zealand Class 1 or equivalent driver’s license. - A sound mechanical understanding with the ability to troubleshoot minor machinery faults. - Good physical fitness and the capability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods. - Reliability and punctuality, with a strong commitment to hard work, especially during harvest time. - Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays as needed. - Proficiency in driving a manual gearbox.
