About the Company Mt. Beautiful is a distinguished, family-owned winery located in the picturesque North Canterbury region, just 9 kilometers north of Cheviot. Since the establishment of our state-of-the-art winery in 2015, we have consistently produced exceptional wines sourced from our 80 hectares of estate vineyards. As we look ahead to 2026, we anticipate processing approximately 750 tonnes of premium fruit, including varieties such as Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay. About the Role We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Winemaker to join our team and oversee the operations of our winery. In this role, you will work closely with our Consulting Winemaker, Vineyard Manager, Viticultural Consultant, and General Manager. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with a talented team and contribute to the production of distinctive, high-quality wines. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the winery, which includes supervising staff, planning workflows, and ensuring adherence to production schedules. You will collaborate with the Consulting Winemaker to uphold our quality standards across all wine styles. You will execute winemaking processes from grape intake to bottling, with an emphasis on quality and precision. Additionally, you will conduct winery analysis and maintain accurate records using winery management software. A strong mechanical aptitude and practical approach will be essential for maintaining and managing winery equipment. Key Requirements To be considered for this position, you should have a minimum of three years of full-time cellar experience, including supervisory responsibilities. A relevant tertiary qualification in Winemaking or Oenology is required. We are looking for someone who can work effectively both within a team and independently, possessing excellent organizational and planning skills. A strong palate and expertise in producing a variety of wine styles are essential, along with practical knowledge of winery processes and a hands-on, solution-focused approach. Proficiency in winery management software and record-keeping practices is also necessary. Flexibility to work extended hours during the harvest season is expected.
