About the Role
We are excited to offer a fixed-term opportunity for an experienced Speech Language Therapist to join our Speech Language Therapy Services at Whangarei Hospital until May 2026. This role involves providing advanced, evidence-based care and advice to patients and their families.
In this position, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering advanced clinical practice across various inpatient wards at Whangarei Hospital for Speech Language Therapy.
- Assisting in the development of relevant policies and protocols within the profession.
- Providing clinical teaching to patients, students, team members, and other health professionals as needed.
This full-time role requires working 40 hours per week, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday. There is also a shared on-call responsibility to cover public holidays, approximately 1-2 times per year. Occasional travel throughout Northland to rural hospitals may be necessary.

About You
As an Advanced Clinician, you will need to effectively demonstrate clinical leadership, sound judgment, and decision-making skills. Strong time management and prioritization abilities are essential.
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A relevant qualification recognized by the New Zealand Speech Language Therapists Association (NZSTA)
- Current NZSTA membership
- A minimum of six years of post-graduate experience, with at least two years in a specialty area
- A current and full New Zealand Driver’s License
- Tracheostomy training
- Level 4 or above FEES training
- Proven clinical leadership in current or previous roles
