About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Full-time Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide one-on-one support to Tangata with intellectual disabilities, playing a crucial part in their rehabilitation journey. Your efforts will help them lead fulfilling and independent lives.
As a Support Worker, you will be primarily assisting male Tangata, delivering high levels of care tailored to their individual needs. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with personal care, hygiene, and daily routines
- Supporting meal preparation and household cleaning
- Administering medication as required
- Transporting Tangata to appointments, gym sessions, and community outings
- Encouraging independence through daily living skills and social engagement
This position operates on a 7-day rotating roster, which includes weekends. Shifts will vary, including:
- Morning: 7am to 3pm
- Afternoon: 3pm to 11pm / 1pm to 9pm
- Overnight: 11pm to 7am (sleepovers) and occasionally 11am to 7pm / 7am to 7pm
About You
We are looking for team members who are practical, empathetic, and enjoy connecting with people. Our Tangata lead active lifestyles, so having energy and adaptability is essential. Ideally, you will possess:
- A qualification in Health and Wellbeing, Community Support, or a related field (preferred but not essential)
- Confidence and strong communication skills
- Experience with personal care (advantageous)
- A positive, solution-focused attitude and genuine empathy
- Good physical fitness and stamina
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A full, clean class 1 driver's license with no restrictions
- Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand
- The ability to undergo a Police Vetting check
- Completion of a Health Check
