Big Pot is a vibrant Chinese cuisine restaurant located in Albany, Auckland. We pride ourselves on delivering authentic dining experiences and are now seeking to enhance our dynamic team with the addition of an experienced full-time cook.
About the Role
We are looking for a positive and ambitious individual who can confidently take on responsibilities and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment. As our restaurant operates six days a week, excluding Tuesdays, you will be required to work during both lunch and dinner services, with a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week. The hourly wage for this position ranges from $26 to $30.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have at least two years of proven experience in a commercial kitchen, specifically in the preparation of authentic Chinese cuisine. Alternatively, a New Zealand Certificate in Cookery Level 4 or higher qualifications will also be accepted.
You must be available to work nights, weekends, and split shifts throughout the week. We are looking for an innovative thinker who commands respect and can prepare high-quality dishes efficiently. Familiarity with sanitation regulations is essential.
Main Duties
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and seasoning food while working at a fast pace
- Cooking for customers with special dietary requirements
- Checking stock and ensuring quality
- Preserving food and freezing items as required
- Enforcing hygiene regulations and being responsible for health and safety issues
- Training staff on new recipes, cooking techniques, and equipment, and overseeing cooks during food preparation
