About the Role We are excited to announce that we are expanding our high-intensity apple orchard located in Pendarves, Ashburton. We are seeking physically fit and dependable individuals to join our team in a variety of hands-on roles on a fixed-term contract. Key Duties Include - Orchard Trellis Structure Installation: Involves cabling, wiring, and system setup - Planting: Handling young trees and securing them in place - Tree Painting: Painting the bases of trees to prevent damage from animals - Dripline Clipping and Installation: Running out dripline, clipping it to wires, and fitting connections - Netting Installation: Protecting crops from adverse weather conditions - Tree Training & Fruit Thinning: Enhancing fruit quality and maintaining tree structure - Pruning: Ensuring tree health and productivity - Machinery Operation: Operating orchard machinery such as hydraladas, tractors, and diggers (training will be provided) - Health and Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment - General Orchard Tasks: Performing tasks as directed by supervisors and management Requirements We are looking for candidates who are: - Physically capable of performing outdoor labor in various weather conditions - Possessing a positive attitude and a willingness to learn - Able to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team - Previous experience in orchard or horticulture work is a plus, but not necessary Additionally, candidates must be currently residing in New Zealand and eligible to work for the full duration of the contract.
