About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join our Asphalt Plant team in Christchurch. In this key role, you will oversee all aspects of asphalt plant operations. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with customers to plan daily production schedules, managing plant maintenance, ordering stock, and leading a team of eight. You will play a crucial role in driving plant productivity with the support of supervisors, while ensuring that all work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, you will: - Champion health, safety, and environmental standards across all operations, ensuring compliance and best practices. - Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external customers. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives in all areas of operations. - Manage financial processes, including pricing, budgeting, supplier negotiations, and stock reconciliation. - Support the Industries Divisional Manager in implementing our long-term business strategy to ensure ongoing success. Requirements We are looking for candidates who possess: - A Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or NZ Certificate in Engineering, or a minimum of five years of relevant industry experience. - Sound knowledge of asphalt plant operations, including maintenance. - Technical understanding of asphalt products. - Strong business and financial acumen. - Experience in managing and developing teams. - The ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. - A proactive approach to health and safety, as it is our top priority. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
