About the Role We are seeking a Kaiwhakahaere Kehi (Case Manager) to support individuals in our care at Rimutaka Prison, located in Trentham, Upper Hutt, within the Wellington region. In this role, you will collaborate with those in our care and their families to address criminogenic behaviors and work towards reducing reoffending. Your responsibilities will include managing individuals in our care, preparing reports for the Courts and the New Zealand Parole Board, and contributing to public safety through positive relationships and community engagement. By focusing on the wellbeing of the individuals, you will empower them to make better choices for a crime-free future, always treating them with the utmost respect and dignity. As a Case Manager, you will lead the rehabilitation and reintegration efforts of the individuals under your supervision, employing a person-centered approach. Key areas of focus in case management include: - Assessing rehabilitation and reintegration in the context of family and community support - Utilizing motivational techniques with individuals and their families - Collaborating with staff and external stakeholders in a multidisciplinary manner - Engaging with individuals based on principles of risk, need, and responsivity - Partnering with Māori leadership to support pathways for Māori individuals About You In this role, you will leverage a variety of services and techniques to collaborate with external agencies and the families of those in our care to support their rehabilitation. Your success as a Case Manager hinges on your ability to exercise sound professional judgment to identify individuals' needs and match them with the appropriate treatment and programs. Skills and Experience We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications: - Proven knowledge and experience in case management, rehabilitation, and reintegration practices, or a strong passion for learning in this area, particularly if you have experience working with diverse client bases or have recently graduated in social services, psychology, or a related field. - The ability to operate safely and effectively in a correctional environment, with an understanding of safety procedures when working with offenders. - Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports that meet legal standards. - Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. - A reflective mindset, capable of giving and receiving feedback. - Highly developed relationship management skills, effective in building and maintaining rapport. - A proactive approach to motivating and supporting individuals towards long-term positive change. - Critical thinking skills, with an awareness of biases in decision-making processes. - Experience working with Māori and Pacific peoples, their families, and communities. - A current and full clean New Zealand driver’s license. Benefits The starting salary for this position is $70,956 per annum. As you progress in your role, you will have the opportunity to increase your salary over time, with a five-step competency framework leading up to $91,307 per annum.
