Description
About the Company
At Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand, our mission is centered on putting people at the heart of everything we do. We are responsible for the day-to-day operations of New Zealand's health system, providing services at local, district, regional, and national levels. Our organization integrates the functions of the 20 former District Health Boards into our regional divisions and district offices, ensuring continuity and quality in health services across the country.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a full-time, permanent Forensic Psychiatrist to join our Canterbury Regional Forensic Mental Health Service. This service caters to a population of approximately 700,000 in the South Island of New Zealand and offers a comprehensive range of forensic treatment settings, including medium secure and rehabilitation inpatient facilities located at Hillmorton Hospital and within the community.
Our Regional Forensic Service also provides consultation and liaison services to Nelson, Marlborough, the West Coast, and South Canterbury. We have two secure units and one open rehabilitation unit with a total of 35 inpatient beds. The service collaborates closely with community-based programs that offer extensive clinical support as individuals transition back into the wider community.
We value your experience, and while previous forensic experience is appreciated, it is not essential. This position offers a wonderful opportunity to explore a career in Forensic Psychiatry within a supportive environment, complete with supervision for new practice areas, including Court work and legal issues. We are also open to considering candidates looking for part-time hours.
