About the Role In this role, you will be responsible for managing vegetation control within the Auckland water and wastewater networks that are contracted to Downer NZ. Your tasks will include mowing, weed eating, and litter collection to ensure that we provide a high-quality and timely service. Additionally, you may assist the team with routine and planned maintenance at Auckland's freshwater and wastewater pump stations and reservoirs. Given the dynamic nature of our team, each day will offer different experiences, allowing you to apply your current skills while also learning new ones. You will report directly to the Electrical and Mechanical Supervisor. To thrive in this position, it is beneficial to have experience working outdoors independently and possess a strong work ethic. Familiarity with mechanical issues related to submersible and surface pumps, as well as treatment devices like electrical generators and compressors, will be an advantage. Requirements The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria: - A minimum of two years of experience in open space management or grounds maintenance, including operating weed eaters and push mowers. - A solid general knowledge or interest in mechanical systems. - Experience working independently in grounds maintenance. - Experience in water, wastewater, landscape, road construction, or civil infrastructure projects. - Certification in confined spaces and working at heights. - A full New Zealand Driver Licence; Class 1 and Class 2 will be advantageous. - A strong focus on health and safety. - A positive work ethic and attitude.
