About the Role
We are currently seeking a professional leader in Audiology to join our team in either Invercargill or Dunedin. This is a permanent, full-time role requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week. The salary for this position ranges from $117,420 to $122,570 per annum pro-rata, along with contributions to KiwiSaver.
In this role, you will be accountable for providing district-wide, discipline-specific professional leadership within Audiology. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading initiatives in professional governance, quality practice, and professional conduct.
- Contributing to the development of new models of care and workforce planning for your profession.
- Empowering the Audiology Service to deliver contemporary, evidence-based health and disability services.
- Promoting equity in health provision for Māori populations.
- Enhancing the overall health of the community through investigations and reporting on health-related issues.
- Collaborating with the clinical management partnership to enhance efficiency, productivity, and patient safety.
About the Service
Our Audiology Service delivers diagnostic and rehabilitative services for both children and adults. We also provide crucial diagnostic support to Ear, Nose, and Throat outpatient clinics and other specialties. Our facilities located at Wakari Hospital in Dunedin and Southland Hospital in Invercargill are well-equipped, and the recent opening of the New Dunedin Hospital Outpatient Building will further enhance our capabilities. This new facility includes two soundproof rooms that are co-located with the Ear Nose and Throat Outpatient Service, fostering a strong collaborative relationship with the ENT team. Additionally, you will have professional leadership responsibilities for the Newborn Hearing Screeners and Vision and Hearing Technicians.
About You
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following key experience and qualifications:
- A minimum of six years of practice in a health or relevant setting.
- Advanced clinical experience and knowledge, ideally across both hospital and community environments.
- Demonstrated leadership skills or potential, with experience in leading and developing others.
- A relevant qualification in Audiology that is recognized and approved by the New Zealand Audiological Society (NZAS) is essential.
- Membership with NZAS is required.
- A current Certificate of Clinical Competency is essential.
- A pediatric certificate in a relevant clinical area (such as VRA, Pediatric Habilitation, or ABR testing) is desirable.

Salary Range
This position is classified under the PSA/DHBs Allied, Public Health and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement. The salary falls between designated B Step 1 ($117,420 per annum) and Step 3 ($122,570 per annum pro-rata) on the Technical, Designated Allied, Public Health and Technical scale.
