About the Role
As a Cook at Kajiken, you will play a vital role in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of our authentic Asian dishes. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for Asian cuisine. You will be responsible for ensuring that our culinary standards are met while addressing the special dietary needs of our guests.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will perform various tasks, including:
- Addressing the special dietary needs of guests while maintaining high cooking and service quality standards.
- Completing pre-cooking tasks, such as adjusting cooking equipment temperatures as necessary.
- Applying seasonings and sauces during the cooking process and plating dishes upon completion.
- Strictly adhering to health and safety regulations established by the restaurant and relevant authorities.
- Supporting chefs in training kitchen staff and apprentices.
- Storing food properly to prevent spoilage.
- Performing any additional duties as requested by the head chef or manager.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in the hospitality industry, with a solid understanding of food safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment. Alternatively, a relevant qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher is acceptable.
- An excellent understanding of food hygiene guidelines.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for Asian cuisine and a dedication to delivering an authentic dining experience for our customers.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
On-the-job training will be provided to help you succeed in your role.
