About the Role We are currently seeking consultant anaesthetists to join our cohesive, friendly, and supportive team at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital. The successful candidates will become integral members of our anaesthetic department, which consists of approximately 30 senior medical officers (SMOs) and 11 anaesthesia trainees. Your role will involve enhancing our department based on your training and experience while participating in our out-of-hours service. Our work environment fosters collegiality and collaboration, with a variety of surgical and medical specialties serving a diverse patient population. We are dedicated to ongoing education and the continuous improvement of our services. Additionally, we actively support the professional development of junior staff and interdisciplinary education. Our department is approved by ANZCA for two years of vocational training in anaesthesia. About the Team/Service/Location Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital is located in Hastings on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island. This large, accredited public facility features 400 beds, providing both acute and elective care to a region of over 176,000 residents. The work within our department is diverse and often presents unique challenges. Over the past decade, Hawke's Bay has witnessed significant population growth and demographic changes. We offer a broad range of surgical, medical, oncology, and radiological services, which have prompted the need for substantial expansion of our facilities. The upcoming years promise to be exciting as we navigate these changes. Furthermore, the private healthcare sector in Hawke's Bay is expanding rapidly, allowing health professionals to broaden their practice. Both Royston and Kaweka private hospitals are in close proximity to our facility. About You We are looking for candidates who possess either FANZCA or an equivalent qualification that qualifies for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
