About the Company
At Kaahui Whetuu, we are dedicated to providing exceptional residential care for tamariki and rangatahi in a supportive community setting. Our mission is to keep young people connected to the positive influences in their lives, including mentors, whānau, and community-based programs. We are currently seeking an experienced Team Leader to join our Care Services team in the role of Clinical Programmes. This is a permanent, full-time position.
About the Role
In this leadership position, you will play a critical role in ensuring that interventions and programs are effectively implemented for each child and young person in our care. Your responsibilities will include:
- Addressing underlying trauma, health, mental health, and disability needs, as well as sensory and behavioral difficulties.
- Facilitating adherence to Oranga Tamariki's vision and values, the National Care Standards, and Practice Frameworks.
- Supporting the implementation of therapeutic interventions that are rolled out nationally across care and protection residential services.
- Providing individual and group professional leadership, support, supervision, and knowledge to your team.
- Overseeing accurate documentation of clinical assessments, plans, and interventions.
- Developing local and regional relationships with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate clinical services are available to children and young people.
- Fulfilling the administrative and management requirements of the role.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need to bring the following qualifications and experience:
- A Master’s level qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing (in mental health), or a related field.
- A minimum of two years of clinical and therapeutic experience coordinating work within a multi-disciplinary setting with children and young people facing complex behavioral issues.
- A strong competence in working within a trauma-informed therapeutic care model.
- A focus on the development and delivery of therapeutic services.
- Experience leading the implementation of national clinical training programs for residential services.
- An in-depth understanding of child and adolescent development, the impact of trauma, abuse, neglect, and sensory integration theory.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to different audiences.
- Strong engagement and relationship-building skills.
- A comprehensive understanding of psychological formulation and its implications for planning and therapeutic interventions.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to view behavior as a form of communication.
- The capability to manage risk and make difficult decisions, along with skills in discerning and addressing complex situations.
What Team You Will Work With
In this role, you will manage a team of 1-5 professionals within a broader group supporting three residences in South Auckland. You will work closely with external partners, including Counties Manukau Health, Police, Education, and other agencies, making this position both unique and rewarding. The diversity of our work allows for flexible use of evidence-based therapy models and tools to support tamariki and their whānau. At Oranga Tamariki, we offer a competitive remuneration package that includes annual progression based on experience and tenure. The annual salary for this position ranges from $106,416 to $117,782, depending on experience.
