About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to join our fast-paced Service Department in Wellington. This role is critical to our operations, and we are looking for a candidate with proven experience in an automotive franchise who is ready to embrace challenges and contribute positively to our team.
In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Assisting with Quality Control processes
- Providing guidance to workshop technicians and apprentices
- Liaising with customers regarding technical concerns
- Ensuring compliance with the company's safety policy within the workshop
- Performing routine service and repair work on both Toyota and other vehicles
- Maintaining in-process and final inspection records for quality assurance and production control
- Conducting quality control inspections of the automotive technicians' work
- Effectively managing technician hours to enhance productivity and efficiency within the workshop
- Collaborating with the Parts department to ensure all necessary parts are available for repairs
- Coaching and mentoring workshop staff to support their development and performance
- Assisting the Parts & Service Manager in maintaining Warrant of Fitness (WOF) requirements
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Experience in the automotive industry with a solid understanding of service, workshop, and technical operations
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and motivate a team while identifying opportunities for performance improvement
- A strong blend of business acumen and personal drive to meet and exceed targets
- Demonstrated capability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment
- Organized and methodical, with the ability to implement and maintain effective systems and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence in addressing challenging customer concerns to achieve satisfactory outcomes for both the customer and the business
- An Automotive Engineer's Certificate (AVI) is essential
- A clean and current Full Driver's Licence
