About the Role
We are currently seeking an Allied Health Team Leader for the Occupational Therapy Child Development Service (CDS) to cover parental leave from January 2026 to January 2027. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE) with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
In this role, you will lead a team of 16 Occupational Therapists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support to children with developmental delays or disabilities. Your responsibilities will include daily management of the Occupational Therapy team, capacity planning, staff allocation, leave management, and providing HR guidance where necessary. You will also conduct performance management processes in collaboration with the Clinical Manager.
As the Allied Health Team Leader, you will offer professional leadership and supervision, providing expert clinical advice and support to practitioners. You will manage triage of new referrals, address queries, oversee the Occupational Therapy waiting list, and maintain a clinical caseload to deliver direct services.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with a passion for paediatric health. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- A minimum bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registration with the NZ Occupational Therapy Board and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- At least 5 years of clinical experience in Paediatric Occupational Therapy
- Experience in clinical teaching, supervision, and staff development
- Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori, or a commitment to learning and growing in this area
This role will also require you to provide direct clinical care as appropriate to the service area.
