About the Role
We are currently seeking an Internal Medicine Physician to join our team on a fixed-term basis to cover a period of sabbatical leave. This is a full-time position requiring 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE). In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality acute and general medicine care within one of our ward-based teams in the general medical service.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our general medicine department manages over 8,000 admissions annually across four medical wards and a 20-bed acute assessment unit. The department is organized into eight teams, each supported by registrars, house officers, and trainee interns. We take pride in our strong collegial relationships and robust education calendar, which includes over 40 physicians specializing in various fields. Our current initiatives focus on improving patient outcomes, reviewing care models, enhancing patient flow, and addressing healthcare inequities.

About You
As an Internal Medicine Physician, you will possess a broad range of skills and be capable of managing undifferentiated presentations in acute medicine. You will provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement. While your primary focus will be on ward-based care for acute presentations, you will also have opportunities to engage in outpatient clinics and contribute to service development and innovation.
The ideal candidate will hold an FRACP or an equivalent qualification and be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
