We are dedicated to providing excellent healthcare and fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. About the Role We are currently seeking Registrars who are looking to achieve a fulfilling balance between their professional responsibilities and lifestyle. If you are interested in joining us in Tairawhiti, New Zealand, we have exciting opportunities for Emergency Medicine (ED) Registrars, with positions starting as soon as possible. Our Emergency Department offers a supportive working environment, emphasizing high-quality teaching and professional development. Position Description | ED Registrar About the Team/Service/Location The Gisborne Emergency Department features a dedicated team of FACEM or vocationally registered emergency specialists who collaborate with urgent care doctors to manage approximately 25,000 patients annually, with a 25% admission rate. Our team encounters a significant number of high-acuity medical cases, trauma, and pediatric emergencies. Our experienced specialists are committed to providing strong support and mentorship to our registrars, along with numerous procedural opportunities. Gisborne Hospital is a 110-bed acute care facility that serves a broad geographical area in Tairawhiti, extending along the East Cape of New Zealand. This presents a unique variety of clinical experiences for registrars looking to grow in their roles. Our hospital provides care to a population of 54,000 and is well-equipped with comprehensive surgical services and a full range of diagnostic facilities, including a new MRI and CT scanner. We maintain strong connections with our tertiary referral center in Waikato. Located on the eastern coast of New Zealand's North Island, Gisborne is known as "Tairawhiti," meaning "the light shines on the water." It is the first city in the world to witness the sunrise each day, surrounded by stunning golden beaches, bush-clad mountains, and lush farmlands. Our region is rich in historical landmarks, natural wonders, and a deep connection to Māori culture. The pleasant climate, short commutes, and relaxed lifestyle make for an enviable work-life balance. At Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti, we aim to enhance collaboration, strengthen leadership, and improve equity of access and outcomes across our health services. We are shifting our focus towards primary and community care, enabling more people to receive care closer to home while taking an active role in their health and well-being.
