About the Role
We invite you to become a part of our Surgical Department as a registrar. Working in a smaller hospital environment offers unique advantages, including exposure to both general and acute medicine within a supportive team comprised of consultants, house officers, medical students, and nursing staff. Your roster will be designed to allow you ample time to enjoy the recreational activities that Rotorua has to offer, including its longer summers and milder winters.
About the General Surgery Department
Our department is staffed by eight General Surgical consultants who cover a comprehensive range of specialties, including Colorectal, Breast, Endocrine, and Upper GI surgery. As a registrar, you will have the opportunity to rotate through various units while gaining valuable experience in general surgery care. We are a recognized training site for RACS surgical trainees and prioritize registrar teaching and training. Our registrars receive solid support and supervision to enhance their operative and non-operative skills. We take pride in our strong reputation for helping registrars advance in their surgical careers.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) or be eligible for general or provisional general registration. You can check your eligibility by visiting the MCNZ website.
- A minimum of two years of post-qualification experience.
- A keen interest in providing acute and general medical care to our community.
