About the Company
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is deeply committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is focused on creating a healthcare system that serves all New Zealanders. Our Hauraki Thames Coromandel Community Nursing Services are dedicated to providing quality healthcare within our communities.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Hauraki Thames Coromandel (HTC) District Nursing team, primarily based in Waihi. This role involves a community nursing service that combines home visits and clinic-based work. Our District Nursing Service operates seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This includes after-hours on-call services and call-outs for palliative and end-of-life care as needed.
A full, unrestricted New Zealand driver’s license is essential for this position. Candidates without a full New Zealand driver’s license should not apply, as the role requires daily driving both locally and over longer distances. Please note that this position is not suitable for new graduate nurses.
About the Service
The Hauraki Thames Coromandel community services operate in both urban and rural settings. Our Rural District Nursing team provides a diverse range of care across the lifespan, offering a challenging and varied nursing role. This includes managing long-term medical conditions, delivering home-based palliative and end-of-life care, and addressing chronic wound management within a multidisciplinary environment that includes primary health care providers.
We value an understanding of improving health outcomes and require the ability to work effectively across diverse home, social, community, and cultural demographics. You may also be directed to work in other locations as needed.
About You
As a District Nurse, you will need to be multi-skilled, with excellent assessment and communication abilities. Building relationships with various health providers within the community is a vital aspect of our service. Familiarity with and proficiency in using electronic devices is crucial for this role.

- Proven time management skills with the ability to prioritize and think critically
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team
- Capability to manage personal and professional boundaries within a small rural community
