Description
About the Company
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to creating a health system that serves the diverse needs of all New Zealanders, grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We are committed to building a workforce that is inclusive and representative of the communities we serve.
About the Role
We currently have two opportunities available within our Community Hamilton and Rural Team. One is a 12-month fixed-term role at 24 hours per week, and the other is a permanent position at 32 hours per week. We are seeking a registered nurse to join our District Nursing Service, primarily serving the Hamilton area while also covering rural bases.
Flexibility is essential for this role, as our nurses work across both rural and urban settings as part of the District Nurse position. Our service operates seven days a week, with working hours between 8 am and 5 pm. The successful candidate will be required to work rostered duties, including weekends and some on-call responsibilities.
About the Service
Our District Nurses provide a comprehensive range of services to local communities, often visiting patients in their homes. We collaborate closely with allied health professionals, such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists, operating from 16 bases across the Waikato District Health Board.
The district nurse role encompasses advanced assessment, management, support, and education in various areas, including wound management, compression therapy, IV management, palliative and end-of-life care, continence assessment, catheter management, ostomy management, and support for home oxygen and respiratory patients. Additionally, we focus on rheumatic fever secondary prevention and liaising with other health professionals.
