About the Role
We are excited to announce a fixed-term opportunity for a Senior NICU Nurse within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Christchurch Women's Hospital. This 0.6 FTE position (24 hours per week) is aimed at covering parental leave until August 23, 2026. The role involves working 12-hour rotating shifts, which will be scheduled across Monday to Sunday, with both day and night shifts available.
As an Associate Clinical Nurse Manager (ACNM), you will bring your leadership skills and clinical expertise to provide coordination, support, and guidance within our Neonatal Service. The Neonatal Service offers secondary and tertiary care to newborns who are born prematurely or face surgical, congenital, and medical complications after birth. Our unit comprises 44 beds, including 12 intensive care and 32 special care cots, serving a catchment area of approximately 20,000 square kilometers across the South Island.
About You
We are looking for a senior member of our neonatal multidisciplinary team who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be responsible for providing effective clinical leadership, direction, and support to our neonatal nursing staff. Your ability to problem-solve, make critical decisions, and address issues is essential to ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based quality care for the infants and families we serve. Additionally, this role will involve managing an individual specialty portfolio, and you will receive a thorough orientation along with ongoing professional development support.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of recent neonatal intensive care experience.
- Demonstrated advanced nursing skills comparable to a senior nurse or expert Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP), with a comprehensive understanding of the neonatal journey across all levels of care.
- A strong commitment to working in partnership with our service users, their families/whānau, and other health service providers in the community.
