About the Role We are currently inviting applications from New Zealand Registered Dietitians for a part-time leadership position (0.8 FTE; 64 hours per fortnight) that includes a clinical component. In this role, you will provide professional, strategic, and operational leadership for our Dietitian service. As a key member of the Allied Health, Scientific and Technical leadership team, you will collaborate with Allied Health Professional Leaders and service leads throughout our organization. As the Professional Leader of Dietitian services, you will have the chance to shape and support various initiatives, including: - Developing new models of care and service delivery that adhere to clinical best practices across our district, catering to a wide range of services from birth onward. - Ensuring effective operational management of the service, encompassing budgets, recruitment, and waitlist management. - Collaborating with Allied Health leadership to develop and scope designated roles and implement an agreed career framework. You will also provide professional guidance and support to Dietitians within your team and to those in other teams across the organization. Your clinical knowledge and strategic thinking regarding the future of Clinical Dietitian services will be essential in developing and implementing clinical services in line with the Pae Ora Act 2022. About the Service Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki employs approximately 350 allied health professionals, and we are currently expanding our inpatient physical health rehabilitation team by 60%. You will be joining a friendly, diverse team that values collaboration and the contributions of each member. Our Dietitians operate throughout the Taranaki district, providing services in inpatient wards, outpatient care, and specialized teams focused on Diabetes and Eating Disorders. This role will require you to work across two locations: New Plymouth Base Hospital and Hawera Hospital in South Taranaki. For more information on living and working in Taranaki, please click here. About You As a New Zealand Registered Dietitian, you will possess relevant operational and management skills, along with leadership experience and excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Your background should include collaboration with various professions and services to enhance patient outcomes. We are looking for someone who leads by example and fosters a team environment that encourages engagement and growth. Key Qualities We Are Seeking: - Advocacy for Dietitians to a broader audience, representing Taranaki locally, regionally, and nationally. - Forward-thinking mindset with an emphasis on incorporating service improvement projects that enhance patient outcomes and optimize resource utilization. - Ability to drive the service forward through innovative approaches and effective use of available resources. - Personal characteristics that include being approachable, supportive, and a team player, along with a visionary and strategic mindset that models integrity and empowers staff development. - Capacity to define current and future roles and develop clear role definitions. - Strong communication skills with the initiative to support change, listen to diverse ideas, and engage in open dialogue with the team. - Innovative approaches to patient-centered care and team well-being. - Willingness to assist clinically within the Dietitian clinical teams when necessary.
