About the Role
We are currently seeking Casual Support Workers to join our dedicated team in the Residential Service in Kapiti. In this role, you will work closely with rangatahi and tamariki in our Intensive Support Services, providing coaching and mentorship. The majority of shifts will be during the night, with some opportunities available for daytime and afternoon shifts.
As a Support Worker, your primary responsibility will be to assist young individuals in living as independently as possible within their community.
You will:
- Collaborate with your team to ensure a consistent approach in supporting the young people
- Help tamariki and rangatahi access education and attend school
- Observe and respond to health concerns, promoting overall health and wellbeing
- Support young people in working towards and achieving their personal goals, enhancing their outcomes
Requirements
We are looking for individuals who possess:
- A genuine desire to assist rangatahi and tamariki in learning new skills and achieving positive outcomes
- Previous experience working with young people
- An understanding of intellectual disabilities and autism
- Creative problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset
- A full New Zealand driver's licence
- Empathy, respect, and cultural awareness, as the individuals we support come from diverse backgrounds with unique needs and interests
