About the Role
In your role as a District Nurse within the Mid North area, you will be an integral part of our community clinical services. Your main responsibilities will involve addressing the needs of patients and their families/whānau through the delivery of contemporary nursing care that is safe, appropriate, and effective.
Your care will be founded on comprehensive assessment and will prioritize continuity, patient-centeredness, cultural sensitivity, and evidence-based practices. You will provide care in various settings, including patients' homes, community clinics, or other mutually agreed environments, which will require travel throughout the Mid North area.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Community Clinical Services team operates across four locations: Kawakawa, Kerikeri, Kaeo, and Kaikohe. We are dedicated to caring for patients and their whānau in the community. While our work can be challenging, it is also incredibly rewarding. Our goal is to empower and educate families and individuals towards achieving wellness and self-reliance in their health. You will collaborate with clients to promote health, prevent disease, maintain wellness, and provide nursing care to those referred to us in the community.
About You
We are looking for a District Nurse who is flexible and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will need to establish relationships with individuals across all age groups.
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- A minimum of one year of post-basic nursing experience or recent experience in primary health
- A current full New Zealand driver's license
- Proficient computer skills
- Competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to starting your learning journey in these areas
- Experience with projects or initiatives that align with the principles of Te Tiriti and apply Matauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly in healthcare settings
