About the Role
As a Cook at our restaurant, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of authentic Chinese dishes. You will utilize traditional techniques and adhere to our restaurant standards to ensure that our guests enjoy high-quality meals. Your role will also involve maintaining food safety practices and upholding kitchen hygiene while supporting overall kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
You will prepare, cook, and present a range of authentic Chinese cuisine, including stir-fries, dumplings, noodle dishes, hot pot, and more, in line with our menu offerings.
It will be essential to ensure that all food preparation meets hygiene and quality standards, which includes proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients.
You will operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as woks, rice cookers, steamers, and knives in a safe and efficient manner.
Assisting in planning daily food preparation and coordinating with kitchen staff will be crucial to managing the timing and presentation of dishes.
You will also monitor inventory levels and inform management of any supply needs or low stock situations.
Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen is vital, so you will clean and sanitize surfaces, equipment, and utensils following food safety regulations.
We expect you to follow portion control standards to minimize food wastage and work effectively with the team during busy service periods to ensure speed and consistency.
Additionally, you will adhere to workplace health and safety policies and report any hazards or incidents to management.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A qualification at NZQF Level 4
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, sauces, and ingredients
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills

- Employment type: Permanent, full-time
- Minimum hours per week: 30 hours
- Maximum hours per week: 40 hours
- Hourly rate: $26 to $28, depending on experience
