About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Dentist to join our hospital dental service starting in January 2026. This position is a 12-month fixed-term role, covering a period of parental leave, and involves working 48 hours per fortnight (0.6 FTE) with additional on-call shifts.
In this role, you will provide a comprehensive range of dental care, including special needs dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, and dental trauma. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with the local maxillofacial service as well as with Hutt Valley. Your responsibilities will include performing dental procedures under general anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation.

About the Team/Service/Location
You will be part of a dedicated team that includes one Dental House Officer, one Dental Registrar, three Senior Dentists, and a Dental Public Health Specialist. Your role will also involve contributing to the hospital's out-of-hours on-call service for dental and maxillofacial care.
Our Hospital Dental Service operates across multiple sites in Hastings, Napier, and Wairoa, focusing on medically compromised patients, children, and individuals with complex and special needs. We provide care in both outpatient and theatre settings, ensuring diverse clinical experiences. Additionally, you will participate in a 1:5 on-call roster, providing acute dental and maxillofacial services.

About You
To be considered for this role, you must be registered with the Dental Council of New Zealand and have at least three years of hospital dental experience.
