About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Personal Care Assistant to join our team. This full-time position guarantees 30 hours per week with a competitive hourly rate of $27 to $30. We offer flexible rostered shifts, continuous training, and opportunities for professional development.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing personalized care services to our clients, enabling them to maintain their independence. This includes creating and implementing individualized care plans that respect each client's dignity, privacy, and freedom of choice. You will assist clients with various activities, ensuring their comfort and well-being at all times.
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Understanding and addressing the personal needs of each client
- Assisting clients with dressing and grooming, including washing, bathing, and personal hygiene
- Supporting toileting and continence management
- Helping clients with mobility, including getting in and out of bed
- Using rehabilitation aids as necessary
- Assisting with prescribed rehabilitation programs
- Providing day, evening, or night sitting services as needed
- Prompting and assisting clients with their medication
- Preparing snacks and meals according to clients' preferences
- Assisting with feeding when required
- Performing general cleaning duties in the client’s home
- Handling shopping and money management within established guidelines
- Encouraging clients to maintain their independence
- Communicating any concerns to the appropriate parties
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and their families
- Acting with initiative in emergencies and liaising with other services as needed
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- A genuine passion for empowering clients to lead independent lives
- A minimum of three months of experience in homecare or healthcare
- A Health and Wellbeing Qualification (Level 3 or Level 4 NZQA or equivalent) or a willingness to obtain this qualification
- Strong communication skills and a good command of the English language
- A valid driver’s license
- Cultural awareness and the ability to work flexible shifts
- Self-motivation, organization, reliability, and punctuality
- A collaborative mindset and sensitivity to the needs of others
