About the Role
We are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to support our Maintenance Manager in overseeing the maintenance and safety of Tekapo Springs and Tekapo Stargazing properties. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance, offering diagnosis and troubleshooting across our facilities. As a key leader, you will supervise the maintenance team and serve as the Maintenance Manager's second-in-command during rostered days off. You will also be responsible for ensuring that staff and contractors receive proper induction and training in compliance with our operational standards.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a related environment.
- Strong skills in training and developing staff members.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment, and capability in operating various vehicles.
- Experience in refrigeration is essential.
- A background in the tourism industry and W, T, R license endorsements are desirable.
- Knowledge of pool facility operations and experience with refrigeration plants will be advantageous.

A solid technical aptitude and a willingness to learn are essential, as is the ability to adapt and embrace innovation. Key Accountabilities
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
Supervision and Leadership
- Assist in creating staff rosters that align with budgets and business needs.
- Lead by example, demonstrating our core values.
- Supervise maintenance staff and contractors to ensure operational standards are met.
- Provide consistent feedback and identify training needs for team compliance with health and safety and operational protocols.
Policies, Procedures, and Administration
- Support the Maintenance Manager in developing and updating operational policies and procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date maintenance records and recommend changes to outdated policies.
- Train staff to understand and adhere to best practices and procedures.
Plant and Property Management
- Ensure that all assets are clean, functional, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Supervise preventative maintenance tasks while minimizing disruptions to operations.
- Help design and implement efficient maintenance programs focused on waste reduction and environmental goals.
- Ensure that computerized systems are functional and current.
Equipment, Machinery, and Vehicles
- Contribute to a comprehensive maintenance plan for all equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
- Assist with coordinating vendors and contractors for upgrades and purchases.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance projects and support asset inventory and replacement programs.

Health and Safety
- Model safe behavior and adhere to all health and safety policies.
- Uphold the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Ensure that property, equipment, and plant meet workplace safety standards.
- Contribute to maintaining accurate risk and hazard records and support health and safety training for all operational staff.
Key Relationships
You will engage with various internal and external stakeholders, including:
- Suppliers: Sourcing equipment and materials for improvements and operations.
- Contractors: Ensuring completion of tasks and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Internal teams: Communicating operational updates to the General Manager, coordinating with Finance to ensure purchases align with budgets, and working with the Activities Team to minimize maintenance disruptions.
