About the Role
We are seeking a skilled individual to join our team and provide maternity cover for a design and estimating role. This is a fixed-term contract lasting approximately 12 months, which includes a handover period. There may be an opportunity for this position to continue beyond the initial contract period.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing custom kitchens, laundries, and various joinery items for both residential and commercial projects. You will accurately price plans and tenders, analyze project specifications, and interpret architectural drawings. Additionally, you will assess material, labor, and time requirements while preparing detailed cost estimates. Collaboration will be key as you work closely with clients, project managers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure projects stay within budget and meet client expectations.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in kitchen and joinery design (5 years preferred)
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural plans and details
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to customize designs based on client needs
- Capability to complete site measurements accurately
- Proven ability to manage your workload effectively and meet deadlines under pressure
- Proficiency in various pricing software and a solid understanding of Word and Excel
- Experience with Winner design software is essential; familiarity with Microvellum would be advantageous
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- A problem-solving mindset with a willingness to contribute to a collaborative team environment
- A friendly and outgoing personality
- A desire to learn and grow as part of our team
Remuneration for this role will be based on your skills and experience. Candidates must be New Zealand residents or hold the appropriate work permits to work in New Zealand.
