About the Role

The role of a support worker is fun, people-facing, challenging, and deeply rewarding. It offers an opportunity to provide invaluable support, guided by the needs of the individuals you will assist.
Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with personal care (e.g., showering, bathing)
- Aiding in household management and meal preparation
- Supporting exercise programs
- Assisting individuals in accessing the community
- Providing bowel, bladder, and catheter care
- Managing hoists and manual transfers
- Offering medication support
Job Location: Otago - Dunedin
Employment Type: We offer a range of employment opportunities including permanent (30+ hours), part-time (up to 29 hours), and casual (cover shifts). These options will be discussed further during the recruitment process.
Days of Work: This is community-based work, which involves rotating rosters, including morning, afternoon, and weekend shifts. Your preferred working hours can be discussed during the recruitment process. The duration of these hours may vary depending on the specific needs of the individuals we support.
About You
We are looking for calm yet confident individuals who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges faced by our service users. The responsibilities of a support worker can be both challenging and fulfilling, and it is incredibly rewarding to help individuals live their best lives in the community.
Candidate Pre-Requisites:
- Ideally, prior personal care experience is preferred
- A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial; however, those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered, as comprehensive training can be provided
- Access to a car and the ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is required)
- Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
- Legal right to work in New Zealand is essential
