About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated professional to join our Sterilising Services (SSS) Leadership team at Te Toka Tumai as the Quality Lead. This crucial role oversees and manages the Quality Management System across Auckland City Hospital (ACH) and Greenlane Clinical Centre (GCC) sites. The Quality Lead ensures that our services consistently meet the necessary requirements and regulatory standards, including AS5639 and ISO 13485, relating to the decontamination and sterilisation of reusable medical devices (RMDs).
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Maintaining and updating policies, procedures, and compliance documentation
- Coordinating quality assurance activities across the service
- Supporting audit readiness and regulatory compliance
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Te Toka Tumai Auckland
- Collaborating with clinical and operational teams to ensure safe, effective, and timely patient care through quality systems

About the Service
The SSS is responsible for the disinfection and sterilisation of reusable medical devices. Currently, our SSS at Te Toka Tumai is the only Sterilising Department in New Zealand accredited with ISO 13485. We utilize advanced sterilisation technology, robust training methodologies, and cutting-edge software to provide comprehensive support to our customers. Our services extend to 48 operating theatres and over 30 patient care areas throughout the Greenlane Clinical Centre and Auckland Hospital.

About You
We are seeking an experienced individual with at least 5 years of demonstrated expertise in Sterilising Unit operations. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in quality management systems and a proven track record in developing and implementing continuous quality improvement initiatives. Experience in reviewing operational processes and competency in professional writing and documentation are essential.
Essential requirements include:
- New Zealand Diploma in Sterilising Technology (Level 5)
- Strong knowledge and understanding of industry regulations and standards
- Extensive experience in sterilisation practices and quality assurance
- Proven ability to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff and key stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to biculturalism and achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
Desirable qualifications include:
- Tertiary education, preferably a Bachelor's Degree related to Quality
- Proficiency in the use of Quality Systems charts and tools
- Experience in reviewing and developing operational processes and procedures
