About the Role
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about working with animals and can thrive in an independent work environment. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the health and wellbeing of our birds by providing optimal care and management.
What is in it for you?
You will have the flexibility to choose your start time between 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM. We offer competitive starting pay at $27.81 per hour, and all necessary training will be provided. The majority of your work will be indoors, making this a great opportunity to begin or continue a career in livestock management. For those who demonstrate a strong fit for our team, there may be opportunities for a permanent position.
What You'll be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting routine checks on livestock, feed, and water
- Maintaining accurate records and collecting data
- Performing cleaning, basic maintenance, and repairs
- Managing the removal and disposal of deceased birds
- Supervising other shed hands
Work Days / Hours
This role operates on a six-week roster, requiring between four and six days of work per week, with only two weekends included in the schedule. Weekday shifts will last eight hours, while weekend shifts will be five to six hours.
Sound Good? Here's What We Are Looking For
We seek candidates who possess the following:
- A good level of physical fitness
- Supervisory experience in any industry
- Experience working with animals or livestock
- A forklift license is a bonus
- Candidates must currently reside in and be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, holding either New Zealand or Australian citizenship or New Zealand permanent residency. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider overseas candidates or those requiring visa sponsorship, as this role is long-term and ongoing, making it unsuitable for Working Holiday Visas.
