About the Role
We are currently seeking a Casual Cleaner to join our Environmental Services Department at the Christchurch Health Campus. This role involves covering shifts during the following hours: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, or 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Please indicate your availability for these shifts in your cover letter.
The starting pay for this position is $27.80 per hour, with additional penal rates offered for weekend and night shifts, in accordance with the E tū Service and Food Workers collective agreement.
In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining our facilities and ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for our patients (turoro) and their families (whanau). Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing all cleaning tasks to meet international healthcare standards
- Ensuring daily schedules and tasks are accomplished within set timeframes
- Safely operating and maintaining equipment around patients and their families
- Handling cleaning solutions in line with established safety protocols

About You
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:
- A high level of patient confidentiality
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service and time management abilities
- The capability to work independently and remain self-motivated
- A keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience in cleaning, particularly in a healthcare setting, is preferred but not essential
