About the Role
We are excited to announce a permanent opportunity for an experienced Haematology Registered Nurse within Ward B6 at Waipapa Hospital in Christchurch. This role offers a part-time schedule of 0.8 FTE, amounting to 32 hours per week, with shifts from Wednesday to Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and some flexibility in start times.
In this position, you will play a vital role in the development and quality improvement of our bone marrow transplant service. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing complex clinical reviews for patients
- Collaborating with primary services to ensure a seamless patient journey from admission to discharge
- Mentoring and role modeling expert clinical practices to support and enhance staff performance
- Educating the team on clinical practice development and new initiatives, particularly in the management of stem cell transplant patients
- Contributing to research initiatives aimed at improving service quality and specialty care
About the Service
The Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in Ward B6 specializes in treating patients with both malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders, serving individuals from across the South Island. Our established and collaborative team is dedicated to delivering high standards of nursing care to patients and their families. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive work environment and aim to be recognized as a center of excellence in our field.
About You
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of recent experience in haematology
- Relevant experience in bone marrow transplant care
- A current or in-progress postgraduate qualification in a relevant area
- Experience in a clinical specialty or senior nursing role
- Demonstrated nursing leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong patient focus
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
