About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Haematology Registered Nurse to join our team as a Nurse Educator. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and delivering nursing education programs focused on haematology, catering to staff at all levels of experience, from novice to expert.
As a Nurse Educator, you will facilitate ongoing education, serve as a resource for nursing staff, and provide professional and educational support. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Delivering educational services for nursing staff, including Healthcare Assistants
- Facilitating all clinical education processes, including developing orientation programs for new staff
- Maintaining area-specific educational competencies for all staff
- Developing educational frameworks for cancer services and specialties for inpatient and outpatient nursing staff
- Assessing individual professional development needs and supporting staff education
- Mentoring staff on professional development through independent learning processes
- Developing learning contracts in collaboration with the Charge Nurse Manager to address performance issues
- Supporting specialized student learning environments, such as Dedicated Education Units (DEU)
- Establishing and mentoring journal clubs to encourage independent learning among staff
About the Service
Ward B6, the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, provides specialized treatment for both malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders. We serve patients from across the South Island and are proud of our collaborative and dedicated team. We strive to deliver high standards of nursing care in a supportive environment, aspiring to be recognized as a center of excellence.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 3 to 5 years of recent experience in haematology
- Relevant experience in bone marrow transplantation
- A commitment to pursuing or holding a relevant postgraduate qualification
- Demonstrated teaching, mentoring, and coaching skills
- Proven ability to support nursing staff at all levels of practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong patient focus
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, along with a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
