Counties Manukau Health is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services to our community. As one of New Zealand's busiest and most diverse teaching hospitals, Middlemore Hospital consists of 950 beds and offers a comprehensive range of services, including a large Emergency Department, Dialysis Unit, National Burns Unit, Neonatal Unit, Intensive Care Unit, general surgery, and medical wards. Our Transfusion Service supports not only our hospital but also two private hospitals, a dialysis unit, a hospice care facility, and a satellite laboratory at Manukau Health Park.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Blood Bank Laboratory team at Middlemore Hospital. In this permanent, full-time position, you will report to the Charge Scientist and will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic team environment, delivering vital transfusion services across Counties Manukau, Te Whatu Ora, and the surrounding community. The laboratory is equipped with modern instrumentation, including Grifols Erytra and Eflexis analysers.
In this role, you will be expected to perform all tasks outlined in the job description and participate in the rotating shift and after-hours on-call rosters once training is complete. Additionally, there may be occasions where you will be required to work at the Manukau Health Park laboratory.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following key requirements:
- Be a registered member of the Medical Laboratory Sciences Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
- Have a minimum of one year of post-qualification experience.
- Possess strong computer skills and knowledge in safety management.
