About the Role At Chatham Islands, we provide essential health care services to our local community as well as to the tourists who visit to enjoy the area's stunning outdoors and protected conservation areas, along with its rich cultural and heritage landmarks. Our focus is on nurturing a sense of pride in caring for our community and striving to meet their health needs. We are currently seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our team. This role is crucial, and we are looking for candidates who possess excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to take initiative. If you enjoy being busy and are prepared for the physical demands of the role, we encourage you to apply. You will work alongside a diverse, multi-disciplinary team. The responsibilities of a Healthcare Assistant may vary day to day, but your primary goal will be to ensure the health centre operates smoothly and effectively. Tasks may include: - Supporting individuals to maintain their health in their homes, assisting with cleaning and personal care such as showering - Ensuring that patients at the health centre and within the community have a positive experience - Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness within the health centre, including the hospital grounds and waste disposal - Assisting with the transportation of patients and staff to and from the airport, as well as managing freight as needed - Helping with meal preparation for patients and staff - Supporting the nursing team to facilitate the smooth operation of the health centre Flexibility is essential, as this role requires the ability to work various shifts, including weekends and nights. We are particularly seeking applications from residents on the Chatham Islands.
