About the Role
We are looking for a New Zealand registered Occupational Therapist with a specialized interest in Mental Health to join our enthusiastic and dedicated Allied Health team. Our small team of Occupational Therapists works collaboratively to provide a generalist service, offering a range of inpatient and community-based health services. What You Will Do
As an Occupational Therapist working in Mental Health, you will be responsible for conducting assessments, providing education, and delivering treatment using a patient-centered model of care for patients of all ages, including those with both physical and mental health conditions.
Your role will encompass both our Manaakitanga Mental Health Inpatient Unit and community-based patients, providing a diverse and rewarding workload. Travel throughout the West Coast region will be a part of your responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments and treatments for Manaakitanga Mental Health inpatients, with appropriate goal setting and outcome measures.
- Supporting the transition of patients from inpatient to community settings.
- Collaborating as a vital member of interdisciplinary teams within both inpatient and community settings.
- Liaising with relevant health professionals and agencies to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Providing education to families, whanau, and carers as needed.
About You
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist with a minimum of three years of practice within a mental health context to join our multidisciplinary team.
Essential qualifications and skills include:
- At least three years of experience as a Mental Health Occupational Therapist.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong teamwork skills, with an understanding of the importance of collaboration.
- Capability to work independently while knowing when to seek support.
- Excellent communication skills and cultural awareness.
- Flexibility and strong time management abilities.
- Competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to beginning your journey in cultural learning and growth.
