Description
About the Company
We are Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of Aotearoa/New Zealand. Our commitment to delivering quality services is reflected in our diverse and inclusive workforce, which helps us better understand and serve our community. We are particularly focused on equity in health, with an emphasis on supporting Māori, Pacific Peoples, and individuals with disabilities.
About the Role
We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a Geriatrician to join our Assessment Treatment and Rehabilitation (ATR) Unit at Timaru Hospital. This role is vital in providing care for our 20-bed sub-acute care unit and involves participating in community and clinic visits. We are focused on developing services that are more community-facing, leading to innovative approaches in community health for older persons in collaboration with primary care.
The new purpose-built ATR unit offers a coordinated multidisciplinary service designed to restore functional abilities and enable individuals to live as independently as possible.
Timaru Hospital, with 131 beds, serves a district population of approximately 50,000 and is undergoing a significant refurbishment program. We provide essential 24/7 services including Emergency Department, ICU/CCU, General and Orthopaedic Surgery, ENT Surgery, Oncology, Palliative Care, Internal Medicine, and Paediatrics.
Why Timaru and the South Canterbury Region?
Timaru is a vibrant city located on the coast, with picturesque Caroline Bay and the stunning Southern Alps in the background. It is a family-friendly place that offers easy access to various outdoor activities, including beaches, ski fields, lakes, mountains, and hiking trails.
We also offer free parking and a convenient commute, contributing to a healthy work-life balance.
