About the Role
Our department comprises 14 spaces, including beds and fast-tracked areas, and handles approximately 22,000 presentations annually, addressing a wide variety of emergencies, including trauma. We have strong support from inpatient teams, including specialists in anaesthesia, paediatrics, mental health, surgical, and internal medicine.
The role offers considerable variety, allowing staff to triage and diagnose various conditions. Our Emergency Department (ED) team is a close-knit group of Medical Officers and a core of experienced, multi-skilled ED nurses.
The roster consists of three overlapping 9-hour shifts, supplemented by assistance from House Officers and Registrars. We strive to accommodate individual preferences when creating the roster.
About You
We are looking for candidates who possess New Zealand Vocational Registration in a generalist scope of practice, such as Emergency Medicine, Rural Medicine, Urgent Care, or General Practice, along with a current practicing certificate.
Competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori is highly valued, as is a commitment to undertaking your learning journey in these areas. Experience in projects or initiatives that uphold the principles and frameworks of Te Tiriti, as well as the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches in healthcare, will be important.

Salary Range
This role falls under the ASMS Collective terms and conditions, with salary determined according to the Pay Scale and based on relevant experience.
