    About the Company Heretaunga Seniors is a community center dedicated to fostering fellowship and friendship among older adults. We offer a variety of day programs, social outings, and pastoral care to help our members live fulfilling lives and actively participate in their communities. Our organization operates under the umbrella of Anglican Care Waiapu (ACW), which serves as the social services arm of the Anglican Diocese of Waiapu, with programs and services extending throughout Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti, and Hawke’s Bay. About the Role We are seeking a Programme Assistant to join our dedicated and passionate team on a permanent part-time basis, working 21 hours per week. In this role, you will be responsible for providing activity and support to our clients, ensuring they can engage in day programs, social outings, and receive pastoral care. Key responsibilities include: - Planning, coordinating, and facilitating daily activities for our clients - Understanding clients’ needs and abilities to encourage participation in activities - Assisting with the packing and storage of equipment - Driving the center van for outings and client pick-up and drop-off as needed - Supporting clients during activities and assisting with meal preparation and kitchen duties Requirements We believe that the ideal candidate will possess a natural ability to connect with older individuals, their families, and the broader community. The following qualifications are important for this position: - A clear understanding of the needs of older adults - Strong communication and listening skills - Previous experience in planning and coordinating activities is advantageous but not essential - A warm and caring personality, with physical fitness to handle equipment - A full clean driver’s license and a clean criminal record, along with New Zealand residency - Creativity and the ability to think outside the box to achieve positive outcomes - A strong moral compass and professional ethics that align with our organization’s values - The energy and enthusiasm to motivate, inspire, and engage older people This role requires an individual who is energetic, creative, and deeply committed to the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities, with a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of older adults.
