About the Role
We are currently seeking full-time Construction Technicians to join our team for deployment on various infrastructure and commercial projects throughout New Zealand. These positions are permanent, with guaranteed minimum hours of 30 per week. The specific site locations will vary based on project demand.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on significant construction projects, with all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools provided.
Key Responsibilities
As a Construction Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Performing tasks that align with your skills and capabilities to support the business's operations.
- Complying with all aspects of contracts, projects, or tasks, ensuring that customer service meets or exceeds expectations.
- Erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
- Creating structures, forms, or chutes and pouring concrete.
- Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture and laying hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors.
- Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding patches using appropriate tools.
- Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms with various tools.
- Conducting general labor tasks, including cleaning construction sites as directed by managers.
- Loading and unloading building materials, tools, and equipment, and transporting them around construction sites.
- Performing any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Some experience in the construction industry is preferable, but not essential.
- A friendly demeanor, strong time management skills, and an excellent work ethic are essential.
- A commitment to learning and developing your skills within the industry.
- Familiarity with health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Experience in fabricating and installing custom joinery and cabinetry.
- Ability to perform general framing, fix-outs, door hanging, skirting, and architraves.
- Precision in measuring and cutting materials.
- Teamwork skills and the ability to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
- Willingness to collaborate with other trades as needed.
- Must be able to pass a Criminal Check and Drug Test.
Nationwide Opportunity and Travel
While this role is listed in Wellington, we are recruiting for positions across all regions of New Zealand, depending on project requirements. The areas we are targeting include:
North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, and Wellington.
South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland.
