    About the Company Waikato Hospital, part of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, is a leading tertiary teaching hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand. About the Role We are seeking multiple Senior Medical Officers and Fellows to join our Critical Care unit at Waikato Hospital. The unit is currently experiencing significant growth as we work to reform our services and expand the number of ICU beds available. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated team focused on revitalizing the Waikato Critical Care unit. The role involves a permanent commitment of 40 ordinary hours per week (1.0 FTE), with rostered duties and on-call responsibilities. The salary is based on the ASMS Contract, along with an average call duty and availability allowance of approximately 45-55% of the base salary. In addition, we offer a continuing medical education allowance of NZD 16,000 and 10 days of leave per year. Eligible candidates will also benefit from a superannuation matching scheme of 6% of total remuneration, and a recruitment allowance is currently available. The standard salary package ranges from NZD 260,000 to NZD 380,000, depending on experience. About the Team/Service The Critical Care Department at Waikato Hospital serves as the tertiary provider for Intensive Care in the Midland region of New Zealand. Our 16-bed ICU, opened in 2013, delivers comprehensive tertiary services, including a major trauma center and the second-largest cardiac surgical center in the country. We also provide neurosurgical and regional burns care, along with busy general and pediatric intensive care services, catering to approximately 1,500 ICU patients and nearly 3,000 HDU level patients each year. Our department operates a retrieval service for critical care patients by both air and road, and we manage a significant volume of cardiac patients. We are a training unit accredited by the CICM. About Hamilton Hamilton is a vibrant city located alongside the scenic Waikato River. It offers a harmonious blend of nature and culture, with attractions such as the Hamilton Gardens, Waikato Museum, and the Hamilton Zoo. The city also hosts a variety of cafes, restaurants, and bars, and is known for its lively events including rugby and cricket matches, as well as the National Agricultural Fieldays and Balloons over Waikato festival. With its dynamic atmosphere and access to outdoor adventures, Hamilton is an excellent place to live and work. About You To be considered for this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and experience: - Hold or be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in the scope of practice of Intensive Care Medicine and maintain good standing. - Hold FCICM, or UK FICM with CCT or equivalent qualifications.
