About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable Drainlayer / Machine Operator to join our Dunedin team. This hands-on position is perfect for individuals with strong civil construction skills who are confident in operating machinery. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering drainage, utilities, and civil works throughout our Dunedin projects.
Your responsibilities will combine drainlaying tasks with operating machinery such as excavators and rollers. You will work closely with site supervisors and engineers to ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain stormwater, wastewater, and service drainage systems.
- Operate machinery safely and competently, including excavators and rollers.
- Assist with trenching, pipe installation, bedding, backfilling, and compaction.
- Read and interpret plans while adhering to production targets.
- Participate in daily pre-starts, conduct safety checks, and engage in toolbox talks.
- Maintain plant and equipment to a high standard.
- Collaborate with the wider construction team to meet program expectations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in drainlaying and civil construction.
- Relevant machine operating experience, with appropriate WTR endorsements.
- Strong understanding of safety standards and worksite practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
- Good communication skills and a proactive, reliable work ethic.
- A drainlaying qualification is preferred.
