About the Role
We are seeking a Paediatric Speech Language Therapist to join our Child Health Centre at Whangarei Hospital. This is a permanent, part-time position working 24 hours per week (0.6 FTE), with hours from Monday to Friday. In this role, you will provide an effective and efficient Speech Language Therapy service to children in Northland, including those with disabilities and developmental issues, within the service criteria.
As a Speech Language Therapist, you will work collaboratively with children, their families, and the Child Health Service team. You will be responsible for conducting assessments and implementing appropriate techniques, ensuring compliance with New Zealand Speech Language Therapists National Standards of Practice. We emphasize culturally appropriate treatment for all clients and their families.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need the following essential skills and experience:
- A degree in Speech Language Therapy or an equivalent qualification
- Current registration with the New Zealand Speech Language Therapists Association (NZSTA)
- Previous experience in the field of Speech Language Therapy
- Excellent English language communication skills, both oral and written
- Competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to developing these skills
- Experience with projects or initiatives that uphold Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, particularly within healthcare settings
While not essential, the following education and skills are desirable:
- A course in Dysphagia (either as part of training or a postgraduate course)
- Makaton training
- Experience in signing
