About the Role
We are currently offering permanent positions for Health Care Assistants (HCAs) in the Medical Wards at Whangarei Hospital, with hours that can be negotiated to suit your needs. In this role, you will work under the direction and delegation of a registered nurse or midwife, providing essential assistance to patients with their daily living activities, comfort, and safety needs.
Your responsibilities will include performing delegated patient care duties to enhance patient satisfaction, as well as housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized environment. As a vital member of our multi-disciplinary team, it is important to note that HCAs do not make decisions regarding patient care, planning, assessment, monitoring, or evaluation. Instead, your focus will be on ensuring the efficiency and quality of care that prioritizes patient comfort.

About You
Essential Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- No prior experience is required; comprehensive training will be provided on-site
Desirable Requirements
- New Zealand Certificate in Health and Well-being (Advanced Support) Level 4
- Current first aid certificate
- Two years of experience in the health sector as an HCA or in a related role
- Experience working with patients displaying challenging behaviors
