About the Role We are currently seeking dedicated support workers to join our team and assist our services in the Northland region. This role is ideal for individuals who are resilient, energetic, and conscientious, with a genuine interest in supporting people with health-related issues or disabilities. Support work is not only challenging and rewarding; it is also an opportunity to build strong, trust-based relationships with the individuals we support. Your role will be to provide invaluable assistance, guided by the needs of those you are helping. Responsibilities may include: - Assisting with personal care tasks such as showering and bathing - Supporting household management and meal preparation - Aiding in exercise programs - Assisting individuals in accessing the community - Providing bowel, bladder, and catheter care - Moving and handling hoists and performing manual transfers - Supporting medication management Job Location: Mid/Far North Pay Rate: $30.03 per hour, based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017, which assesses hourly rates based on the equivalency of healthcare qualifications. Employment Type: Both permanent and casual positions are available, with full-time (30+ hours) and part-time (up to 29 hours) options. Hours of Work: The role involves community-based work with rotating rosters, including morning, evening, and weekend shifts. We are looking for individuals who can cover hours between 7 am and 11 pm, with the duration of shifts varying based on the specific needs of those we support. Your preferred hours can be discussed during the recruitment process. About You We are seeking calm yet confident individuals who can demonstrate resilience and empathy towards our service users. The responsibilities of a support worker can be both challenging and fulfilling, and your role will be pivotal in enabling individuals to live their best lives within the community. Candidate Pre-Requisites: - Prior personal care experience in a rest home or community setting is preferred - Familiarity with complex medical conditions, such as spinal injuries or traumatic brain injuries - Access to a car and the ability to drive independently (a valid NZ Full Driver's License is essential) - A Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or higher - Flexibility to travel anywhere in Northland - Flexibility to work on a rotating roster - Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must Benefits We offer a range of benefits to our employees, including: - Flexible working hours - Travel allowance as per In Between Travel (IBT) rules - Free Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) services - Free flu vaccinations - Refer a friend program Hiahia | Interested?
